Mobilize • Decompress • Reorganize

NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) is an innovative form of neurologically-based physical rehabilitation that uses subtle, yet deep, soft tissue therapy and movement to promote the healing of structure and the nervous system. Rather than strengthening and stretching, NKT quiets the nervous system and re-establishes the ability to actively lengthen and relax involuntary bracing.

NKT focuses on mobilizing, decompressing and reorganizing joints. This method applies small, intrinsic movements and refined hands-on techniques to realign the body, gain full physical mobility and resolve chronic pain. This precise neurological work addresses the underlying causes and holding patterns that can otherwise inhibit healing.

NeuroKinetic Movement Workshops

These nervous system-based movement classes are designed to create new possibilities by breaking ingrained physical patterns. The slow and small, non-aerobic movements draw on concepts from Feldenkrais, Iyengar Yoga, Aston Patterning and Pilates in a unique way to increase body awareness and efficiency of movement. These movements can be used therapeutically to manage & overcome chronic pain and injury, improve performance & stability, refine posture and increase core awareness. The classes often work well as a complement to one-on-one therapy.

Somatic
Experiencing

Identify • Track • Release

Humans can experience trauma in many forms. Whatever the cause, trauma can remain locked in the body long after a traumatic experience happened, resulting in a range of problems such as pain, depression, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed. Somatic Experiencing (SE) guides the body’s innate ability to overcome the effects of trauma.

Somatic Experiencing, a therapeutic system developed by Peter Levine, focuses on completing the biological survival responses of fight, flight and freeze that are often retained in the nervous system after a trauma. SE restores a sense of aliveness and wholeness. This gentle method identifies, tracks and facilitates the successful discharge of trauma from the nervous system. The conscious tracking of sensations in the context of processing unresolved aspects of trauma, restores the ability to self-regulate and re-establishes resiliency.

Listen • Reflect • Connect

Originally developed by osteopaths, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a gentle form of bodywork that works with the subtle movements in the body. By listening to these micro-movements and pulsations (especially in the cranium, spine and sacrum), the practitioner supports the body as it expresses how it has managed its experiences. In becoming aware of physical, emotional and mental holding patterns, the underlying intelligence of the system can be contacted and health, as well as stillness, can emerge.

This approach generates therapeutic change from within, accessing the inherent power of the body to heal. As stress responses move through and complete, the body’s organizing forces bring the pieces back into relationship to the whole and ailments can subside.

Flow • Balance • Enhance

Shiatsu balances the functions of the body by working with the flow of stagnant or depleted energy, thus enhancing vitality and the body’s natural capacity to heal. It is a form of bodywork, based on the oriental system of medicine that evaluates health and treats the body in terms of the flow of energy (chi) through a large network of channels called meridians.

Opening the body to renewed energy movement helps to:

  • overcome fatigue

  • release muscle tightness and joint stiffness

  • balance your emotions

  • treat organ dysfunction by increasing circulation

  • regulate metabolism thereby enhancing your immune system
